Wedding budget

Two numbers that rarely agree, side by side

A wedding budget is not one number. It is what you thought something would cost, what it cost, and what has not been paid yet — and a spreadsheet with one column hides at least two of them.

Estimate and real price in separate columns

Every line has an estimate, a real price, a vendor and a due date. Kuvert works out what is left of the estimate and what is still to be paid — two different questions, and the only two that matter in March.

Bills that speak up before they fall due

A line with a due date appears among your notifications in good time, not the week after. The deposit for the venue and the final invoice from the photographer rarely arrive in the same month, and neither of them remembers itself.

The price is tied to the guest list

Ten more guests is not just ten more covers; it is cake, transport and possibly another table. The budget reads the guest count from the list, so one yes too many changes the total that evening rather than at the next review.

Questions and answers

What does a wedding cost in Norway?

It depends on the number of guests more than on anything else. The calculator on this site gives you an estimate from a guest count and a level of ambition, and the budget in Kuvert takes over from there with the real figures.

Can we put the gifts in the budget?

The gifts are a list of their own, and they are not netted against the budget. What the wedding costs and what you were given are two questions, and only one of them has to be paid.

Does it suit a wedding abroad?

Yes. A destination wedding gets a planner of its own in Kuvert, with travel and accommodation alongside the rest of the budget.

Set the budget up

Start with an estimate per line and fill in the real figures as the quotes come in. The calculator gives you somewhere to start.
