Terms

Terms of use

The agreement between you and us, written as briefly as it can be. It applies from the moment you create a wedding, and it is mostly about who owns what.

What Kuvert is

Kuvert is a tool for planning one wedding: the guest list, the seating chart, the budget, the run sheet for the day and a web page of its own for the guests. The service is provided as it is, over the web, and requires no app.

These terms apply between us and whoever creates a wedding in Kuvert, and to everybody invited into that same wedding as a co-planner. If you use the service, you have accepted the terms.

Account and sign-in

You sign in with Google or with a one-time link sent to your email address. There is no password to lose, but the link is a key for as long as it lasts: it is valid for ten minutes and works once.

You are responsible for who has access to your email account, and for who you invite into your wedding. A co-planner can edit the guest list, the seating chart, the run sheet and the guest site exactly as you can. Only owners can invite, change roles and remove people.

You must be 18 or older to create an account.

Prices and payment

The price applies per wedding, not per person, and all prices are stated in Norwegian kroner with VAT included. The free plan costs nothing and has no time limit. Basic is a subscription and can be paid monthly or yearly, where the yearly price is the equivalent of ten months. All inclusive is a one-time payment: it is paid once, does not renew, and applies to the wedding it was bought for.

Payment is handled by Stripe. We never see your card number — it goes straight to Stripe, who are the controller for card handling. The receipt comes from them.

A subscription renews automatically until it is cancelled. You cancel it yourself under Settings, and it then runs to the end of the period you have paid for. We do not charge for the period after that, and we do not delete anything because you cancelled — the wedding stays on the free plan. All inclusive has nothing to cancel, because it does not renew.

Right of withdrawal

If you are buying as a private individual, the Norwegian Right of Withdrawal Act gives you 14 days from placing the order in which to withdraw. Tell us within the deadline and you get your money back.

It is worth knowing that the right of withdrawal falls away if you expressly ask for the service to be delivered immediately and confirm that you lose the right once it has been delivered. We do not ask for that, and we treat any approach within the deadline as a notice of withdrawal.

All inclusive is bought once, and the fourteen days run from the purchase. Withdraw within the deadline and you get the whole amount back, and the wedding returns to the plan it was on — nothing you have entered is deleted. After the deadline the purchase stands: it does not renew and it does not expire, so there is nothing left running, and nothing you have to remember to cancel.

Your content is yours

The guest list, the photographs, the text on the guest site, the budget and everything else you put in is yours. We take no ownership of any of it, and we do not use it to market ourselves, to train models or to sell on.

We need a practical permission to store and display the content in order to deliver the service — to show the guest site to your guests, for instance, or to resize an image so that it loads quickly. That permission reaches no further than that.

You are responsible for having the right to enter what you enter, and for the information you record about your guests. The privacy notice explains how responsibility for your guests' data is divided between you and us.

The guest site is public

The guest site sits at an address anybody can open without signing in. That is the whole point of it — it has to be printable on a card and scannable as a QR code — but it means that everything you switch on there is public.

  • You choose which parts of the page are visible, and you can switch the whole page off.
  • The seat finder shows a guest which table they are at when they search for their name.
  • Allergies and dietary considerations are never shown on the guest site.
  • Pages naming an individual guest are marked “noindex”, so search engines do not take them in.

Do not put anything on the guest site that you would not pin to a noticeboard at the venue.

What the service must not be used for

Briefly: plan weddings. Do not use Kuvert to send unsolicited email, to store or spread unlawful content, to impersonate somebody else, to try to reach other people's weddings, or to load the service in ways that affect other people. We can close an account that does, and we say so first wherever that is possible at all.

Availability and changes

We keep the service running as well as we can, but we do not guarantee any particular uptime. There will be downtime, and some of it is planned. The wedding day is not a day to discover that on, so the most useful thing you can do is print the run sheet and the seating chart in advance — the feature exists for precisely that reason.

The service is under active development. Features arrive, change and disappear. If we remove something you depend on, we say so in good time. If we change the price, the new price applies from the next period and never backwards.

Liability

Kuvert is a planning tool, not a supplier of the wedding. We are not responsible for agreements you make with vendors, for what happens at the venue, or for a guest sitting down at the wrong table.

Our liability for loss caused by the service is limited to what you have paid us over the last twelve months. That limitation does not apply in cases of intent or gross negligence on our part, and it does not restrict any rights you have as a consumer under Norwegian law.

Cancellation and deletion

You can delete the wedding at any time. That deletes the guest list, the seating chart, the photographs and the rest of the content, and it cannot be retrieved. Backups are cleared according to the routine set out in the privacy notice.

We do not delete your wedding to make room, and we do not delete it because a subscription has been cancelled.

Changes to the terms

We may change the terms. If a change matters to you, we say so by email or in the program before it applies, and the date at the top of the page tells you when the terms were last changed. If you go on using the service after that, the new terms apply.

Governing law and disputes

Norwegian law applies. If we disagree, we try to resolve it by talking first. If it has to go to court, the Norwegian courts are the right venue, and consumers may in addition complain to the Norwegian Consumer Authority (Forbrukertilsynet).

Questions about this page can be sent to hei@kuvert.no, and we answer as quickly as we can.
