FAQ

Questions and answers

The ones we get most often. The answers describe the program as it actually is today, not as it is meant to become.

Getting started

How do we begin?

Make an account with Google or a sign-in link by email, say who is getting married and roughly when, and you are in. Everything else — venue, times, guests — can be filled in and changed afterwards.

Do we have to download an app?

No. Kuvert is a web page, and it is built to be used on a phone as well as on a computer. Your guests do not download anything either: their page opens straight in the browser from a QR code.

Can we both use it at the same time?

Yes. Invite your partner, your best man or a wedding planner as a co-planner. Everyone can edit guests, tables, the run sheet and the guest site; only owners can invite further and remove people. If you are in the seating chart at the same time, you see who else is in it and which table they are working on.

We already have the guest list in Excel. Do we have to type it in again?

No. Upload the spreadsheet and choose which column is the name, the email address, the side and the allergies. You see the result before anything is written, and the whole import can be rolled back in one movement if it came out wrong.

Can we have more than one wedding in the same account?

Yes. A wedding planner with several couples switches between them in the menu at the top left, and each wedding is entirely separate — guest lists and seating charts are never mixed.

Guests and the guest site

What do the guests see?

An ordinary web page: your photograph, the date, a countdown, the way to the venue, whatever you have published of the run sheet, and a button to find their table. No account, no sign-in, nothing to install.

Which languages is the guest site in?

English, Norwegian and Vietnamese. The guest chooses, and the choice follows them through the rest of the visit. You decide which languages are switched on and which one a guest meets first — and you can override individual wordings in each language.

How does a guest find their table?

They search for their name. Kuvert makes an A4 sheet with your names and a QR code on it; hang it where guests arrive, and the code opens your wedding site with "Find your seat" on it. The search gives them the table, who is sitting at it, and a map of the room. The code does not belong on the place card — by then the guest has already found the table.

Can we set up a screen at the venue?

Yes. An iPad can be put into kiosk mode: it shows the name search and returns to the start screen by itself after each guest. The language resets at the same time, so the next guest in the queue does not inherit the previous one's choice.

What is the disposable camera?

A QR card on each table gives every phone a limited number of photographs, which land straight in your gallery as the evening goes on. No app and no account for the guest. Two more doors sit behind the same card: a guest book, where somebody writes you a few words instead of or beside a photograph, and a photo wall, where guests see what everybody else has taken. All three have their own switch, and the wall stays off until you open it — it shows every guest photograph to everybody holding a card. You decide how many photographs each device gets, and the link can be switched off or withdrawn at any time.

Can guests see our budget or our notes?

No. The budget, the gifts, the vendor notes and everything else in the planner are yours alone. The guest site shows only what you have switched on and filled in — a heading with nothing under it is not shown at all.

Can guests see each other's allergies?

No. Allergies and considerations sit on the guest in the planner and are used for the kitchen's list. They are left out of the guest site, out of the search, and even out of the change log, so an allergy cannot be read out of the history.

Seating chart and guest list

Can we draw the room the way it actually looks?

Yes, that is the whole point of the seating chart. Drag the tables to where they stand in the hall, put in the stage, the bar and the dance floor, and move guests between chairs. You see at once who has not been seated.

The venue only has ten round tables. Can Kuvert know that?

Yes. Enter the table stock under Settings › Venue, and an attempt to make table number eleven is refused, with a reason. An empty stock means unlimited, so you do not have to fill it in to get started.

What do the two locks on a table do?

Two different things. One locks the position and the shape, so nobody nudges the table out of place by accident. The other locks who sits there — and then an attempt to move a guest is refused both to and from that table, not only to it.

Can we undo it if we make a mess?

The seating chart has undo and redo. An import can be rolled back in its entirety. And the change log shows who changed what and when, so even where there is no undo button you can see what happened.

Do the photographer and the toastmaster get the run sheet?

Yes, without making an account. A share link gives them a read-only view of the run sheet — without your internal notes — and the link can be withdrawn once the job is over. The morning can also run in two tracks when the bride is in one place and the groom in another, and each track gets its own sheet.

Price and payment

What does Kuvert cost?

Basic is 149 kr a month, or 1 490 kr for the year — ten months for twelve. All inclusive is 799 kr once, and then it is paid for. Both are per wedding and include VAT. The free plan covers thirty guests and costs nothing.

Is there a minimum term?

No. Basic is a subscription, but you cancel whenever you like — the plan runs to the end of the period you have already paid for, and then the wedding goes back to Free. All inclusive has nothing to cancel: it is bought, not rented. Nothing is deleted either way, so the guest list and the seating chart are there when the thank-you cards are being written.

Monthly, yearly or once?

That choice is Basic's. Yearly costs the same as ten months, so it pays off from the eleventh onwards: if you are planning for a long time, choose the year. If you found us two months before the day, choose the month — the point of charging monthly is that you should not pay for eighteen of them you never used. All inclusive does not have the choice. It is about the day itself, and a monthly price would charge most in the months it sits unused, so it costs 799 kr once.

What if Free becomes too small in the middle of planning?

Then you upgrade when that happens. Nothing you have already entered has to be redone, the seating chart stays exactly as you set it, and you do not start again anywhere.

Data and privacy

Who owns our guest list?

You do. A guest list is names, allergies and who cannot sit with whom, and it is not sold, not shared with vendors and not used for anything other than planning the wedding it belongs to.

Can we get our data out again?

Yes. Settings › Data downloads the guest list as a file, and at the same time shows which share links are out and what each of them gives access to — so the question “what of ours is outside this browser” has one place to be answered.

What happens if we delete the wedding?

It is deleted — guests, groups, seating chart, budget, run sheet and uploaded files. It is an action we cannot reverse for you afterwards, so it sits behind a confirmation that asks you to type the name of the wedding.

Will there be advertising?

No. No banners, and no vendors who have paid to sit at the top of the catalogue. The catalogue is hand-picked, and there is no way to buy your way up it.
